Mini facelift

Ideal for patients who are experiencing filler fatigue or laser fatigue in their forties who want a more cost-effective treatment than non-surgical treatments can provide. As aging continues non-surgical treatments are less effective. A mini facelift is the best option for a longer-lasting rejuvenation especially for those patients not quite ready for a deep plane facelift. With less downtime than a deep plane or SMAS lift, a mini facelift is a great for patients who experience only minor sagging or droopiness of the jawline. Though a mini facelift is not able to address more advanced sagging skin or aging on the face ,jawline and neck, like a deep plane or SMAS facelift, it is wonderfully effective at improving the appearance by reducing wrinkles, eliminating minor sagging along the jawline to create a more youthful appearance.

The procedure is sometimes referred to as an "S-Lift"  or Short Incision Lift because a mini facelift utilizes an s-shaped incision along the front of the ear with a smaller extension behind the ear. This allows the doctor to efficiently manipulate the Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System or SMAS beneath the skin. Once the incision has been made the underlying facial muscles are tightened, tissue overlying the facial muscles is tightened and the skin is pulled smooth. Excess skin and fat tissue is removed as necessary. This technique results in a lift or repositioning providing a thorough transformation. Initial recovery from such a procedure typically takes about 10 days to two weeks, making the procedure well-suited for individuals with busy lifestyles. Sometimes other procedures, like neck liposuction, deep fat removal under the muscle or platysmaplasty which addresses neck banding are added to a mini facelift to provide more extensive changes.

Risks and Benefits

Not only can a mini facelift improve your confidence, self-esteem, demeanor, and the impression that you make on others, it also offers numerous benefits over its alternatives, not the least of which being less downtime, less bruising, quicker recovery, and in most cases, lower cost. Though the mini facelift is not for everyone - at our Buffalo practice, we can consult with you and determine if the treatment would meet your needs - it is a tremendous option for individuals wishing to rejuvenate the lower face, with the early signs of aging who want to look their best.

Though a mini facelift has many benefits, there are some risks with any surgery. Candidates should be in good health, inform Dr. Sherris of any health issues and do not smoke. Our team takes every precaution to help minimize or eliminate risks for the best surgical outcome.
