Improved Skin - Look Healthier and Younger
As we age, our skin's natural luster tends to fade. Sun exposure, pollution, the development of wrinkles or premature wrinkling and other factors can result in a tired appearance that often makes an individual look older than he or she actually is. In such cases, Dermabrasion - offered at our Buffalo practice, the Clinic of Facial Plastic Surgery in New York - may provide a solution. An alternative to facial cosmetic surgery,
Dermabrasion is a surgical technique by which a rotating diamond wheel abrades the top layer of skin to the appropriate depth. By removing the top layer of skin and damage new skin will emerge that is pinker, finer, and free of many wrinkles. New skin forms over the course of the following week revealing younger, healthier, less wrinkled and refined skin. Dermabrasion will also stimulate the production of new collagen growth which continues over the course of three months following the procedure. The new collagen will further improve the texture and fine lines of the skin.
Risks and Benefits
The pinkness or redness of the skin that persists after the initial healing phase will take several weeks to fade. Follow-up care involves using sunblock in order to protect the new refreshed skin. Patients will notice that the skin remains lighter for a time after procedure, but that condition will usually subside when the skin’s pigment level has been restored naturally. The risks for dermabrasion are minimal. The benefits of dermabrasion are many: If you would like to refresh your image and bolster your self-confidence, dermabrasion may be for you.
