Elevate Your Brow and Your Confidence

Smiling blondForehead wrinkles, furrows, sagging eyebrows and frown lines can give you an aged and tired appearance. With a forehead or brow lift - offered at the Clinic of Facial Plastic Surgery in Buffalo, New York - these signs of aging can be corrected or minimized. A furrowed brow or sagging brow line may seem inconsequential, but can in fact have a dramatic impact on your overall appearance, as the brow and eyelid area is your most prominent feature and the one that most defines your look. Even with diet and exercise, the effects of aging can take their toll on the skin of the face, particularly the brow line, forehead and eye area. In such cases, patients may find that injectable treatments such as Botox injections to lift the brow area and soften frown lines may be initially helpful but for more advanced aging facial cosmetic surgery can provide the solution they are seeking. The type that is right for you will depend on your aesthetic goals and the degree to which the skin sags. Many times patients who think they need upper eyelid blepharoplasty really need a brow lift to return to a youthful look. To learn if you are a good candidate for a forehead or brow lift, contact our Buffalo plastic surgery practice today.

Forehead and Brow Lift

A forehead and brow lift differs from a facelift in that it specifically addresses the upper section of the face. This makes it an ideal alternative for individuals who are seeking to correct imperfections in the eye, brow area or the forehead. The procedure smooths the skin, reduces the appearance of deep lines, and elevates the brow line so that it is in a more youthful position. Elevating the brow improves the crow's feet and makes the upper eyelids look more defined and accentuated. The procedure also allows the eyes to open completely making a patient look less tired. The results of a forehead and brow lift can make a person appear years younger and restore a healthy and vibrant image.

Able to be performed endoscopically (via a small surgical camera that is inserted below the skin to aid in tissue repositioning) or by a traditional incision along the forehead which involves the removal of excess skin, the repositioning of muscle tissue, and the re-draping of skin so that it is firmer and smoother. With an endoscopic procedure, small incisions can be employed; this procedure is preferred by many patients thanks to its less invasive nature and quicker recovery.  With the endoscope, Dr. Sherris can permanently soften the wrinkles of the forehead and between the eyes, thereby resulting in a partial permanent Botox effect on the forehead. A traditional approach is sometimes used if a patient would like to lower a high hairline along with the brow lift. The incision allows the tissue between the eyebrows to be lifted so that the brow line is more defined; once complete the skin is sutured in place to achieve the desired results. Though more involved, the traditional brow lift is equally effective at meeting a patient's aesthetic wishes.
